Apopka wins 4th straight in homecoming game.
It wasn't as pretty as the Apopka fans are used to, but the Blue Darters were able to pull out yet
another win, their sixth of the season. In front of the homecoming crowd, Apopka pulled out to a 14-0 lead
in the first quarter behind Jeremy Gallon touchdowns on the ground and through the air as he connected with
sophomore running back, Tom Smith from 35 yards out.
Winter Park made things interesting in the second half as Zee Ware had touchdown runs of 24 and 67 to
tie the game at 14-14. Caleb Nelson connected with Tom Smith for a 38 yard touchdown to give Apopka a
21-14 lead going into the fourth quarter. Tom Smith put things away when he scored his third touchdown of
the night on a 36 yard touchdown run.
The 27-14 victory puts Apopka at 6-1 on the season, and they hope to regain the #1 6A spot in the
upcoming polls as previous #1 Deerfield Beach lost Friday night. Apopka will resume district play next
week as they host Olympia.
Next Week Preview: Olympia Titans at Apopka Blue Darters 10/24 - 7:30pm EST
