Winter Park Point Guard and national recruit, Austin Rivers has opened things back up.
Back in March, I had a chance to interview Austin Rivers. In that interview, I asked Austin about his future and if Florida was indeed still where he planned to attend school and play basketball. Austin's, response to me came as a bit of a surprise as he hinted that the process was still open, and he would ultimatley decide what was best for he and his family.
Today, as confirmed by Rivals.com, Austin Rivers has indeed reopened his recruiting process, which will be tremendous news to former suitors like Kansas and Texas.
Recently North Carolina has also expressed interest in Rivers. Duke, winners of this year's national title has also jumped into contention. One would imagine Kentucky will toss their hat in as well. Regardless of who, Flordia and Coach Billy Donovan can not feel comfortable with this news. Despite the latest news, Rivers still maintains the Gators have just as much of a chance as anyone.
Austin Rivers just completed his junior year at Winter Park High School and lead his team to the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 6A State Title. The 6'3" Guard averaged 23.9 points per game this season.
